The Eleutherna Tower

In the passage leading to the Acropolis of Eleutherna, remains of a tower are partially preserved. This tower, “pyrgos” in Greek, gives the name to the hill Pyrgi.

The tower is part of the fortified enclosure of the hill. Its architectural features and structural elements indicate that it was built during the Early Byzantine period.
