Foinikias, Monastery of Archangel Michael

The small monastery of Archangel Michael, which is now part of the parish of Sellia, was a metochion (dependency) of the monastery of Prophet Elias in Rustika. The monastery's buildings form a precinct, enclosing a courtyard with a covered well. The church is situated outside the precinct, cut off from the rest of the building complex. The morphological characteristics of the complex date it to the 18th century. Its restoration was completed in 2009.

The monastery houses an exhibition of ecclesiastical heirlooms, while the monastery's olive press has been transformed into a folklore exhibition.

The Catholicon

The church of Archangel Michael is located outside the monastery. It is a single-nave church built in the mid-19th century on the site of an older church.
